Last year Cub was a bit too young to understand Halloween but this year he has shown an interest so I threw myself into my mummy role and made cardboard bats, a balloon and bin bag ghost and the pièce de résistance my very first carved pumpkin. Cub called him Mr Scary, though @themoiderer said he looked happy! Happy and scary is cool. Then we dressed up and headed out into the night for our first trick or treat. We live in a small village so it’s all perfectly safe and I took the dog for good measure (I even painted his face red but you couldn’t really see in the darkness). The houses that welcome trick or treaters are decorated with a pumpkin, so you know who will welcome a knock or who to leave alone.
We did get soaked on the walk home though, but he loved it, and he even shared his sweets with me, he is such a kind boy.
