Hurtling towards 40, I’ve been frantically looking for products that might help me mask the signs of ageing that are becoming ever more apparent on my poor old face. I am also a little cynical about whether or not I can actually find anything that will slow down or undo all those years of smoking and sun worship that I ill-advisedly partook in for a good few decades. I’ll be honest – I think only surgery will make me look like I want to (20 again…!) but anything that helps me to look better until my lottery win happens (unlikely, as I don’t play) is gratefully received.
Airelle are an L.A. based skincare company that uses natural antioxidants and in particular a formula called Berrimatrix, a blueberry-based extract, more of which can be read here. There is a lot of information on their website that is well worth a read but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so I will hereby share with you the results of my three week trial.
I was sent the exfoliating polish, the serum, the firming gel, the moisturiser and the eye and lip treatment. The products themselves were quite unlike anything I had previously used. They weren’t thick, or greasy, or creamy, they all just sank right into my skin straight away without leaving a film or anything else that was going to interfere with my make-up. They are natural and unscented but upon application, they give a wonderful and comforting aroma.I used them in conjunction with my usual facial massage based on this fab video.
As I said, I am a cynic, so I took a photo of myself without make-up before and after the trial. Overall, I cannot honestly say that I noticed a huge improvement - I have got difficult skin and suffer with enlarged pores, spots and rosacea. The close ups however, tell a different story. Considering that I only used them for about three weeks, and for the majority of that time, once a day, you can see a small but definite difference in my wrinkles.
I have concentrated the pictures on my two main problem areas, my forehead and eye crinkles.
Before and after:
As I say, small but definite change, and in less than a month.
Now, they are expensive, but if you are interested in buying them then I can arrange for a discount for you, just tweet me (@mummylion).
